Flipkart New Policy for the Acceptance & Rejection of Shipments

It is very importance of improving shipment identity and ensuring that it remains intact throughout the supply chain journey. Flipkart need to make sure that the right quality of the label is used for forward and return shipments so that it doesn’t fade off and that the customers receive their orders successfully. If a return is created, the appropriate Seller receives the shipment.

Introducing a Policy for acceptance/rejection of the shipment:

As per the policy, it is required that you procure standard thermal paper shipment labels from our authorized vendors and apply them on each of the shipments. This will be checked at the time of pick up and basis that the shipment will be picked up or will have to be rejected.

This policy change applied from 1st Feb 2023

• Flipkart will also track the purchase of shipping labels from the Authorized Vendors
• Timeline from which order for new labels can be placed: 28th December
• Timeline of application of new Labels: The new format of the label will be launched around mid January 2023 and can be printed and applied on shipments
• Timeline of policy implementation: Shipments will be checked for the Authorized Labels been applied from 1st Feb 2023 basis which pick up will be accepted or will have to be rejected
• Shipments on which Policy will not be applicable: Shipments with non Thermal Paper labels will be excluded from the check, normal A4 paper labels can be applied with proper care to ensure they don’t tear or peel off

Benefits of adherence to the Policy:

• Shipment identity remains intact throughout the supply chain journey while label does not get faded off, this will ensure the ordered product reaches to its Customer successfully
• Reduction in the return loss for shipments: With intact labels which do not get faded even in the return journey the return shipments will be identifiable and will reach to its respective Seller successfully
• Reduction in requirement for SPF claim: With improved return shipment rate the need for SPF claims for lost return shipments will reduce

• Flipkart have developed the Vendor ecosystem for Standard quality of Labels, Vendors have been onboarded on the platform in each zone (East, West, North and South) to ensure swift delivery of the Labels to all Sellers
• Very competitive rate for the new Labels, we have worked to develop new format of the label to reduce the size and ensure that the cost per label is minimal
• New format of the label has been developed which has new features to protect the shipment identity

Support Required and Immediate actions to be taken:

• Need to ensure that the current size of Label (4X6 Inches) is not procured in high quantity so that when the new label format is launched (3X5 Inches), printing can be started immediately
• We will announce when can the printing of new labels (3X5 Inches) be started, expected to be around mid-January, till then printing is to be done on the current version of the label (4X6 Inches).

Features of the new label:

1. New label size will be 3X5 Inches while the current size is 4X6 Inches

2. The product name is replaced by the SKU ID. The goal is to make pick-pack much simpler and ensure that the product’s identity is secure

3. A stamp of the label printing is added at the bottom of the label.

4. The Return Address will be featured for an Omnichannel Seller, which can be different from the Source Address
